| I started playing poker as a child against family and friends. Back then nobody played Texas Hold'em. The main game was stud, 5 or 7 card. I loved poker and gambling in general even at an early age. Trying to predict sports results often left me with no pocket money or more money than my teenage friends could expect to make in a year.
I started my own business in 1996 whilst working for another web based business. In 2002 I left to concentrate full time on my own company. During quiet periods I began to play poker, after catching Late Night Poker on TV. Pennies turned into pounds and it was clear there could be good money in the poker industry.
In early 2004 I approached Simon Trumper about creating a personal web site for him. Simon agreed and I've been looking after his site to this day. Simon was gracious enough to recommend me to his friends and I was introduced to Tony G. After working on minor projects for Tony in 2004 I travelled to Vilnius in Lithuania in early 2005 to take on a larger role. In April 2005 Tony G. sponsored me for a tournament during his invitational festival in Vilnius. I won this tournament, the first ever European Ranking event I had played.
In summer 2005 London Poker Club sponsored myself and two fellow UK players for a £300 event in Brighton and a £100 rebuy in Sheffield. I finalled in Brighton for £3200 and 4th place. Things got serious from then on.
In October 2005 Poker Heaven sponsored myself, Tony Bromham and Andy Praill for a 3 month trial period. The trial was successful but Poker Heaven decided to continue the deal for me alone given my marketing expertise and proven track record of recruiting players for the poker room.
In July 2006 I appeared on Sky Sports' Fast & Furious team poker event. I was captain of Team Poker Heaven. During the four heats our players finished 1st, 1st, 2nd and 2nd. We easily ran out team event winners resulting in a $4,000 cash prize and a $5,000 WSPO seat (to be filmed and televised in 2007)
In October 2006 I agreed a 6 month extension to my Poker Heaven agreement, taking me to April 2007.
In February 2007 I won my largest ever online tournament. The $100,000 guaranteed tournament on Mansion Poker.
In April 2007 I agreed an 8 month extension to my Poker Heaven agreement, taking me to 2008. |
